KLCII’s Early Childhood Education Open House at its Serangoon Campus on 19 January 2019, Saturday, reached a new milestone with high school students from Johor, Malaysia, attending for the first time.

The success in getting Malaysian students to attend the Open House began with the Institute’s efforts in 2017, when it launched a recruitment outreach to a high school in Johor.

A majority of the visitors to the Open House were Singapore students and those from the preschool sector. During their visit they learned about career pathways and training opportunities in the Singapore ECCE sector, including KLCII’s suite of courses as well as the EC learning environment at the ELFA Childcare centre. They also had the opportunity to view the art and craft work done by the students. An encouraging number of them enrolled for various certificate and diploma courses during their visit.

The high school students from Johor attended interviews conducted by Skool4kidz to assess their aptitude and suitability for an early childhood career. Several of them were subsequently shortlisted and offered an employment and training scheme that would see them being employed as a preschool teacher upon completion of the training programme – WSQ Professional Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education.
