On March 6, 2025, KLC International Institute (KLCII) hosted a workshop titled “AI Innovation and Career Development in International Chinese Language Education”. Led by Dr. Chen Shi, Vice Principal of Chinese Programmes, the session explored how AI empowers Chinese language education and showcased its practical teaching applications.
Dr. Chen highlighted AI’s rapid integration into education, noting its potential to transform daily life and the need for educators and learners to adapt. Key applications discussed included:
- AI-assisted creation of teaching materials/content: Use AI to generate content such as teaching material tailored for students at different learning levels, aural exercises, stories, and teaching videos.
- Smart assessment systems: Use AI to analyse students’ learning progress, and provide personalised feedback, enhancing the accuracy of targeted teaching.
- Virtual classroom and interactive learning: Online learning platforms can leverage on AI to improve interactivity in lessons, raising learner concentration levels.
AI also streamlines lesson preparation, allowing teachers to focus on innovation and classroom engagement. Participants experienced the power of AI tools first-hand, experimenting with speech recognition, translation, and content generation to create stories, images, and exercises.
Dr. Chen encouraged educators to embrace AI to optimize teaching methods, noting its potential to drive innovation in Chinese language education.
