
The WSQ Higher Certificate in Infant Care course is designed to prepare Infant and Early Years Educators who are interested to work with infants and toddlers from 2 to 18 months old. The course will equip Infant and Early Years Educators with the knowledge and skills in caregiving, guidance, provision of appropriate learning experiences and stimulating environment in the care of infants and toddlers.
The course aims to enable students to:
- Gain understanding of the C.H.I.L.D Principles, areas of development and developmental goals of the Early Years Development Framework
- Acquire knowledge on the developmental domains and their interrelation with learning and development of infants and toddlers (2 to 18 months old)
- Demonstrate understanding of how infants grow and develop through the provision of quality learning experiences and setting up of appropriate learning environments
- Develop understanding of the importance of health, safety, first-aid and nutrition
- Gain understanding of the important roles and responsibilities in the care and development of infants and toddlers

This course consist of:
Class Hours: 180 Hours

^Conducted in-person at an ECDA-licensed childcare centre
Assessment
A range of individual and group projects, quizzes, presentations, role-plays and practicum.
Note: Some projects will include practical tasks such as observation of children and implementing activities with young children.
Award of Certificate
Upon successful completion of coursework and practicum, and a minimum of 80% attendance, students will be awarded the WSQ Higher Certificate in Infant Care.
Applicant must be 21 years old and above AND
- At least Secondary 2 education or 8 years of formal education
- Attained an average SOA 4 in the WPL series OR any of the English Language Acceptable Alternatives by ECDA.

Career Conversion Programme (CCP) for Infant and Early Years Educators (Optional)
The Career Conversion Programme (CCP) for Infant and Early Years Educators is jointly offered by the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA), SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) and Workforce Singapore (WSG). It is designed to equip mid-career switchers who aspire to become Infant and Early Years Educators with the necessary qualifications and skills. The CCP operates in a full-time work and study mode under which the participating preschool operators will employ eligible trainees before commencement of the full-time course. Successfully employed trainees under the CCP will receive monthly salary and course sponsorship from employer. Additionally, they will also be required to commit to a bond agreement with their employer.
Eligibility criteria for CCP applicants who:
- Singapore Citizen (SC) or Permanent Resident (PR) aged 21 years and above
- Graduated or completed National Service, whichever is later, at least two years prior at the point of application;
- Have fulfilled the minimum course entry requirements;
- New hires must not have attended the same early childhood programme and received funding previously;
- New hires should be hired for not more than six months;
- New hires must not be in the same job role prior to joining the CCP;
- New hires must not be a shareholder#1 of the CCP company, or its related companies#2;
- New hires must not be related to the owner(s) of the CCP company;
- New hires must not be related#3 to any personnel in the company who has the authority to make decisions; and
- New hires must not be immediate ex-staff of CCP company or its related companies#4.
- New hires must not be under SSG suspended / withholding listing for funding.
#1 This does not apply to shareholders who hold publicly traded shares in listed companies.
#2 Related companies are defined as those who come from the same group of companies as the CCP participating company based on ACRA profile or share common shareholders with the CCP participating company.
#3 Related individuals refer to these 4 groups:
- Spouse/ex-spouse
- Children
- Parents/parents-in-law
- Siblings
#4 Defined as an individual whose immediate previous employment was with the CCP participating company or its related entities within 6 months preceding the current employment or attachment with the CCP participating company.
Part-Time Training Allowance (For Eligible Trainees)
Eligible Singapore Citizens may receive a part-time training allowance when enrolling in selected courses, under the following schemes:
1) Singapore Citizens aged 40 years and above taking SkillsFuture Mid-Career Training Allowance (TA)-eligible courses. For more information, please visit SSG link.
2) Singapore Citizens who earn up to $3,000 per month and are at least 30 years old as of 31 December of the work year, amongst other criteria, supported under the Workfare Skills Support (WSS) Level-Up scheme. For more information on the detailed criteria, please visit WSG link.
