KLC International Institute (KLCII) recently designed and delivered a series of four customised workshops for The Babilou Family’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme. Specifically curated to meet Babilou Group Singapore’s training needs, these sessions were part of a dedicated Learning Day on 1st July 2024.

The event brought together nearly 600 participants, including educators, principals, support staff, and HQ personnel, representing 62 preschool centres under the KiddiWinkie Schoolhouse and Little Footprints Preschool brands.

The programme featured two topics – “Engaging Minds and Bodies: Active Learning in the Classroom” and “Effective Classroom Management Approach for Young Children” Each topic was presented in both English and Chinese to cater to the preferences of the educators.

In the workshop focused on the impact of active and participative learning on early brain development and neuroplasticity, educators explored the importance of fostering a dynamic environment that supports young children’s discovery and experimentation. They were encouraged to view children as active participants rather than passive recipients of care and learning, as this approach helps children become self-motivated, fostering greater autonomy and confidence.

Participants in the Effective Classroom Management workshop were enlightened on how behavioural problems can significantly impact a child’s holistic development and the strategies to address them. They acquired various management techniques, ranging from autonomous classroom management that emphasise cooperation to minimising disruption in the learning environment.

Feedback from participants indicated that they “gained a deeper understanding of challenging behaviours and active learning, and how to effectively provide the right environment for their children with constructive, hands-on learning experiences rather than passive ones.”

The workshops were conducted by highly qualified KLCII lecturers with extensive experience in the Early Childhood education sector.
