More than half of those who attended walk-in interviews at a recent Crestar Preschools Early Childhood Career Fair were short-listed or accepted for employment by one of the four participating preschool brands belonging to the Crestar Education Group.

The candidates were among 70 visitors who were interviewed by recruiters from Kinderland Academy & PreschoolELFA PreschoolNurtureStars Preschool and Skool4Kidz, representing more than 50 preschools and childcare centres. They were seeking to join the early childhood sector as their first job or exploring a mid-career switch.

The preschool representatives walked the visitors through the job responsibilities and expectations for educarers and preschool teachers. They also fielded questions on salary and benefits, as well as the types of funding and government subsidies available for training.

KLCII Course Consultants were there to provide advice on the relevant training courses available for various career positions, from basic certificate for educarers to diplomas and degrees.

Singapore citizens, permanent residents and Long Term Visit Pass Plus (LTVP+) Holders can receive funding for KLCII’s SSG-supported courses of up to 95% of course fees (subject to meeting eligibility criteria). Additionally, Singapore citizens can apply their SkillsFuture Credit to pay for the balance of the course fees (after funding). Singaporeans aged 40 and above from 1 May 2024 will receive a $4,000 SkillsFuture Credit (Mid-Career) top-up, which is sufficient to pay the entire course fee balance. This means for Singaporeans aged 40 and above, it will cost nothing out-of-pocket for them to pursue KLCII’s early childhood educator full qualification courses, and become fully qualified to work in the early childhood sector.

Mid-career job seekers can apply for WSG’s Career Conversion Programmes (CCP), which provide them with industry-recognised training and support their employers by paying up to 90% of the trainees’ salary. Successful trainees receive a monthly salary and course sponsorship from their employers​.
