On November 4, 2024, KLC International Institute (KLCII) had the honour of contributing to the global fathering movement as our CEO and Principal, Dr. Chua Ying Hwee, delivered a powerful keynote address at the International Symposium on Fathering 2024 held at the Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

Organised by Better Dads Malaysia to celebrate its 5th anniversary, the symposium brought together fathering advocates and thought leaders from around the globe. Representatives from countries as diverse as Egypt, Tahiti, Switzerland, Mongolia, China, India, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia, and Singapore joined forces with Malaysian fathering champions to explore the transformative role of fatherhood in building resilient families and sustainable societies.

In his keynote, Dr. Chua emphasized the importance of strong families for sustainable societies, noting that involved fathers enhance a child’s social-emotional skills and executive functions development. He also referenced Dr. James Heckman and Dr. Ghislaine Dehaene’s research showing the importance of developing children early and that infants’ brains develop through interactions with primary caregivers, especially parents. From an environmental (psycho-social) perspective, both parents and teachers must form deep emotional bonds with children to effectively support their learning and development, therefore care and education can never be separated.

Dr. Chua also commended Better Dads Malaysia for its unwavering dedication to promoting the value of fatherhood over the past five years. The event was a resounding success, thanks to the support of organizations like LPPKN, Bettermind, Dads for Life & Centre for Fathering Singapore, Loving Father Society Miri, and the Family Value Foundation of Hong Kong. Together, they showcased the collective power of partnerships in empowering fathers worldwide.

KLCII is proud to be part of this important global dialogue, reinforcing our commitment to strengthening families through education. We look forward to continuing our partnership with initiatives that inspire and empower communities, one father at a time.
