On 7 May 2025, KLC International Institute (KLCII) organised a Dual Language Early Childhood Workshop at its Ang Mo Kio campus, in collaboration with the Employment and Employability Institute (e2i) and Workforce Singapore (WSG). The event featured English and Chinese sessions running concurrently across two time slots: 3.00pm to 4.30pm and 7.00pm to 8.30pm, offering participants the flexibility to attend based on their language preference and availability.

The English-language workshop, titled “How Early Childhood Education Shapes Our Children’s Future,” was led by Ms Joy Tan, Head, English Early Childhood Programmes. She highlighted how young children learn best through touch, exploration, and play which serve as the foundation for early learning.

Ms Tan also introduced the concept of neuroplasticity and emphasized the importance of the early years, when the brain is most responsive to external experiences. Her session underscored the vital role early childhood educators play in nurturing brain development and laying the foundation for lifelong learning.

Meanwhile, the Chinese-language workshop, presented by Dr Chen Shi, Vice Principal (Chinese Programmes), focused on the evolving landscape of early childhood education in the Artificial Intelligence(AI) era. The session, titled “New Opportunities in Preschool Education with AI Technology,” the session examined how advancements in technology are reshaping career paths, and how Chinese language early childhood education offers long-term career stability and meaningful impact.

Dr Chen guided participants through key topics such as the internationalisation of Chinese education in the AI era, supportive policies for Chinese language learning in Singapore, the global demand for Chinese early childhood educators, and the distinctive strengths of KLCII’s Chinese preschool education programmes.

The workshops offered practical insights into the evolving landscape of early childhood education, particularly for those considering a mid-career switch or exploring new career pathways in education.
