Infants and toddlers depend highly on adults who care for them. To thrive, they need caregivers who are responsive to their needs, interests, and abilities. Responsive caregiving fosters healthy brain development and promotes cognitive-language, physical-motor, and social-emotional development in young children.
The Program for Infant/Toddler Care (PITC) relationship-based approach will be utilised to form the learning activities in the workshop. This approach emphasises responsive and respectful care in a relationship to support infants’ and toddlers’ learning and growth. Educators will learn to observe children’s cues and behaviours and how to be responsive to their individual rhythms and uniqueness. They will learn to modify activities, routines and transitions to reflect individual children’s diverse needs.
