KLC International Institute (KLCII) was honoured to contribute to the recent Good Start Early Childhood Conference 2025 held on 22 August 2025 at Suntec City Convention Centre with the theme “Do(n’t) Play Play” that focuses on the role of play in education. We were invited to address the over 1,000 educators and preschool leaders attending through a plenary sharing. Our lecturers led three workshops and we also hosted a conference booth, showcasing our diverse offerings.

In the plenary sharing attended by all conference participants, Ms Kok Sher Min, Vice-President of Marketing at KLCII, spoke on Singapore’s Early Childhood (EC) Industry Transformation Map (ITM), highlighting how KLCII has been making significant contributions towards driving sector transformation in line with the three key strategies identified in the ITM:
- Jobs & Skills to uplift the EC Profession: KLCII offers and continually improves Teacher Certification and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes to upskill EC practitioners, training thousands every year. We also proactively help adult learners wanting to upskill and enter the EC sector to make the best use of the government support available to them through schemes such as Workforce Singapore’s (WSG) Career Conversion Programme (CCP) and SkillsFuture Singapore’s (SSG) SkillsFuture Career Transition Programme (SCTP).
- Productivity to improve and simplify operations: We help preschools actualize transformation and pain point elimination through our Consultancy and Job Redesign services, as a Pre-Approved Consultant with SNEF, under the Productivity Solutions Grant – Job Redesign (PSG-JR) scheme.
- Innovation: We equip leaders with Innovative & Transformational Leadership Skills, and pursue innovative collaborations with small and medium enterprises to amplify resources for the EC sector.
Tying in with the conference’s theme of “Do(n’t) Play Play”, our plenary sharing culminated in the singing of our “Every Child • Every Teacher (ECET)” theme song. The closing line of the chorus, “Everybody gets to play”, resonated strongly with the conference’s theme. It also captured KLCII’s ethos of treasuring and supporting:
- every child (e.g. through equipping educators with inclusive skills and dispositions),
- every teacher which includes every parent (e.g. through promoting wellness and partnership between teachers and parents), and also
- similarly-minded individuals and organizations (such as Good Start) that are committed to our children’s best interests (e.g. through synergistic collaborations).
The KLCII Chinese Academic Team led three impactful workshops:
- Harnessing AI & UDL in Inclusive Classrooms (Mr James Ling): Showed how AI tools such as adaptive content and AI-generated storybooks can support the UDL framework in Chinese language teaching.
- Playing into the Future with AI Tools (Ms Hou Jing): Explored how AI can enrich play-based pedagogy, sparking creativity and joyful learning.
- Loose Parts in Play and Learning (Ms Liu Li): Highlighted the value of loose parts in supporting children’s play and learning, and the key role educators play in the selection of suitable materials, ensuring accessibility, and using responsive strategies.

KLCII also hosted a conference booth, which drew strong interest from educators and partners. The booth showcased KLCII’s diverse offerings — from teacher training pathways and CPD courses to consultancy and leadership programmes — and provided opportunities for dialogue, networking and collaboration.
KLCII’s participation at Good Start 2025 highlights our dedication to supporting the Early Childhood sector at all levels—from the child, to the teacher and parent, to the preschool, to sector-wide organizations and national-level agencies. We remain committed to helping educators grow, making classrooms more engaging, and working together with partners to give every child the best possible start in life.
