Some 20 preschool operators attended a forum on 8 March 2017 at KLCII Dhoby Ghaut Campus on the Centralised Meal Catering Project, an initiative by the Association of Early Childhood and Training Services (ASSETS), which represents preschool operators and teacher training institutes in Singapore, in collaboration with e2i (Employment and Employability Institute).

The Centralised Meal Catering Project was piloted successfully for three months from September 2016 after more than 30 preschool centres joined together to tap on meal catering services for higher productivity and healthier food options.

At the forum, the preschool operators were introduced to the advantages of the project. The participants also heard presentations from four food caterers vying to be appointed as the second caterer to meet the needs of more preschools coming on board. This initiative is also a part of the Lean Enterprise Development (LED) Scheme project supported by the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) and Workforce Singapore (WSG).

KLCII also took to the stage to present a funded training programme to re-skill cooks of participating centres.

Preschool operators can enjoy privileges under KLCII’s Corporate Membership including course application fee waiver and status as recommended employer for students. Those interested in the KLCII corporate membership may contact 6337 8338 for more details.
