This course provides an overview of safety, health, hygiene and nutritional standards. Emphasis is on the safety and health routines, hygiene, nutrition, and food preparation, storage, feeding and dressing procedures. In addition, common illnesses affecting young children and preventive measures for handling epidemic outbreaks will be covered. Safety practices and preventive measures for indoor and outdoor activities will be discussed. Participants will also be taught injury prevention for young children and how to recognise and report suspected child abuse.
