Some 20 students from Beatty Secondary School completing their Secondary 4 and 5 this year had the opportunity to get a feel of what it’s like to work as early childhood carers and educators, thanks to KLCII’s outreach effort to familiarise school leavers with the early childhood sector.

KLCII arranged for the students to visit Nurturestar Preschool in SAFRA Toa Payoh for a learning journey to get a better idea of the working environment so that they will be better informed when making their career choices after their ‘’O’’ levels.

The students had signed up to visit the preschool as part of the Career Talk and Learning Day journey organised by the school.

Students were briefed by KLCII Vice President for Sales & Marketing, Mr Desmond Seah, on the EC profession, the career pathways.

Accompanied by two teachers, the students were briefed by KLCII Vice President for Sales & Marketing, Mr Desmond Seah, on the EC profession,  the career pathways as well as the continuing training available to them when they are in service. Following that, they were brought on a tour of the Nurturestars facility by the Centre Principal Ms Kit Low.

This is one of several outreach efforts to Singapore Secondary School leavers in the last six months. In August 2017, KLCII , together with HR administrators from Kinderland and Skool4kidz Preschool, visited a Chinese Independent high school in Johor Bahru to introduce the Singapore EC sector to students who had indicated interest in EC teaching in Singapore as a career.
