1st batch of ZNU students complete their Master’s degree in Zhejiang

Singapore’s very first cohort of the Master of Education (Early Childhood Education) Mandarin degree with Zhejiang Normal University (ZNU) graduated on the 28^th October 2019.11 graduands whom are already leaders in their fields of Early Childhood conferred their Master’s degree at the graduation ceremony held at the University’s main campus in Jinhua, China.

The graduation ceremony was witness by KLCII’s General Manager & Principal, Mr Chua Ying Hwee, Vice Principal, Dr Chen Shi and Director James Ling. In Mr Chua’s opening speech, he reminded the graduates to continue to upgrade their skills, strengthen their resilience and transform to stay relevant in a fast-changing and increasingly technology-driven environment in the preschool landscape.

The graduates’ journey did not stop there.  Just two days after the graduation ceremony, the graduates  attended the 1^st Singapore-ZNU Forum on Preschool Education Theory and Practice, where Dr Chen Shi, KLCII’s Vice Principal (Chinese Programmes) presented her views on development strategies for the internationalisation of early childhood education.

Dr Chen Shi stressed the necessity to meet the aspirations of the respective international communities, taking into consideration such important areas as cultural and developmental needs when planning the curriculum. Internationalisation also helps in the transfer of proven know-how on pedagogy, curriculum development and teacher training.

3 of the graduates also went of stage to share insights of their personal observations on recent developments in early childhood education.

Zhejiang Normal University (ZJNU) was founded in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province,  in 1956.  It has 18 colleges offering 59 undergraduate programmes, 63 postgraduate programs including MED and MPA, and MA for Part-Time Vocational Education. The university is assigned by the Ministry of Education as the Key National Training Base for Teachers of Vocational Education.
